PhD Student
I'm currently a fifth year PhD candidate enrolled at The Rockefeller University. I am conducting my thesis project in the Deitsch lab looking at the effects of metabolism on antigenic gene expression in Plasmodium falciparum. Prior to this I completed my undergraduate degree in my hometown at The University of Pittsburgh, double majoring in microbiology and anthropology. There I did research in Dr. Graham Hatfull’s lab, where I studied bacteriophage diversity and genomics while mentoring local high school students through the SEA-PHAGES program. Outside of the lab, I serve as co-chair for the Science Education and Policy Association (SEPA), a student and post doc led organization among Weill Cornell, Memorial Sloan Kettering, and Rockefeller in New York City. The group educates scientists on the intersection of science and policy, and trains scientists to communicate to non-scientific audiences for public outreach. My fiancee and I are proud parents to two fat cats, Josie and Jay, and we enjoy hiking, biking, and exploring the great outdoors.
