Frances Marks

Frances grew up in Rockville, Maryland, then graduated from New York University in 2018 with a degree in biology. While at NYU, she worked in the lab of Dr. Eli Rothenberg where she studied the function of BRCA2 in DNA replication and repair. Frances joined the BCMB program at Weill Cornell later in 2018 and joined Dr. Sabine Ehrt’s lab the following year. Her research project focuses on how Mycobacterium tuberculosis survives intracellular stress conditions.

Christopher Noetzel

Graduate Student

Before joining Weill Cornell's BCMB program, Chrischi worked on trafficking of peroxisomal proteins for his Masters degree in Molecular Medicine at the University of Göttingen. When he's not in the Kafsack lab, Chrischi plays guitar and likes to explore the world both above and below water. Chrischi was a BoP student in 2019. He is also the recipient of the 2018 Julian R. Rachele Prize for Best Original Research Paper and a Jacques Cohenca Predoctoral Fellowship.

Chantal Harris

Graduate Student

Chantal graduated from the University of Florida with a Bachelor of Science in Microbiology and Cell Science. Her undergraduate research as a McNair Scholar focused on the cross-presentation between dendritic cells and auto-reactive CD8+ T cells in the context of Type I Diabetes. She is currently a student in the IMP program at Weill Cornell in the Kafsack Lab. When she is not in lab, Chantal takes every opportunity she can to travel or binge watch her favorite shows. In 2018, she was awarded a F31 NRSA NIH Predoctoral Fellowship.

Michelle Siao

MD/PhD Student

Michelle Siao is characterizing transcriptional and epigenetic control of antigenic variation in the malaria parasite. An MD-PhD candidate and National Defense Science and Engineering Graduate Fellow, she began research on RNA processing while at Harvard College.  Michelle joined the Deitsch Lab in 2014. Her interests include molecular biology, medicine, education, technology, and global health.

Graduated with her PhD in Spring 2020.
